How Geeky Are You? Quiz

February 19th 2007 05:39
DuskDevi was kind enough to send me a link to this How Geeky Are You? Quiz. I had already done some basic searches, attempting to find a Geek test to feature on the site, but most were either too simplistic or too complex.

I like this test because, as I have stated before, Geeks are not an homogeneous group. This quiz showcases some of the most prominent geeky attributes. My results are as follows:

Your Geek Profile:
Academic Geekiness: High
Fashion Geekiness: Moderate
Gamer Geekiness: Moderate
Internet Geekiness: Moderate
SciFi Geekiness: Moderate
Geekiness in Love: Low
General Geekiness: Low
Movie Geekiness: Low
Music Geekiness: Low

Despite being a relatively superficial test, the outcome is quite accurate. I'm certainly not surprised that I lean towards the academic side of geekdom, and the moderate results are also pretty indicative of my interests.

So take the test and post your results - check out Blogging Tips to see how to embed HTML code. For those who have taken the test, do you think that it accurately represents you? Do you think that there are any geek categories that have been unfairly omitted? Is taking a test such as this geeky, or mainstream?

Okay Ninabelle...here goes....
(I had to remove the HTML because it was making your page run over)

Academic Geekiness: High
Movie Geekiness: Moderate
Fashion Geekiness: Low
Gamer Geekiness: Low
Geekiness in Love: Low
General Geekiness: Low
Internet Geekiness: Low
Music Geekiness: Low
SciFi Geekiness: Low

Okay...I have no idea what this means because I was truly expecting to score 'high' in Sci-Fi (....hey that rhymes....) and Movies.
It's not fair dammit!...I own a Jedi Robe and Leia's costume (yeah that one) and Sir Arthur C Clarke and Carl Sagan are my literary 'heroes' and I'm a graphic novel freak and...and...
sigh...maybe that's it...I'm more Freak than Geek!

Thanks for the mention Ninabelle, hope you're well.

Dusk

katyzzz: Geek lessons - that's a thought. I should charge tuition to supplement my adsense income....

Dusk: I think they really should have had a comic/graphic novel category, as it is such a huge part of geekdom.
As for Star Wars, did you put Jedi as your religion on the census? If so, that earns you some serious Sci-Fi Geek points...

May the force be with you,
Nina

More or less as expected, I'd say ;o)

Although my Internet Geekiness I would have expected higher...

Nice post Nina. I think "Do you have an adsense income" would have been a valid qualification for the geek test!! ;o)

And Dusk, your Leia costume has officially made you the sexiest person on Orble (except of course for Mrs M ;o)

...grrrr...I forgot to click 'yes - notify me of replies'....

did you put Jedi as your religion on the census?

Ninabelle...your insight serves you well...no more
training you require...

A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense and the
occasional mind trick on the census form collector...
but it is a dark time for the Rebellion...
the government refuses to acknowledge Jedi as a religion...
and it is strong with the dark side of the Force.

Okay that's it...I'm putting the HTML back up...

Thank you Yoda76....luminous beings are we,
not this crude matter....damn....that's your line.
Sorry.

Aw, hell yes! I am like a Geek Renaissance Man:

Academic Geekiness: High
Fashion Geekiness: High
Gamer Geekiness: High
Movie Geekiness: High
Music Geekiness: Moderate
SciFi Geekiness: Moderate
General Geekiness: Low
Geekiness in Love: None
Internet Geekiness: None

Although, I must say that there aren't enough questions to get an accurate response. To say that my Sci-Fi geekness is moderate is a very conservative estimate, and I definitely deserve more points in Internet Geekiness. And no comics section? Bah!

What it needs is a section asking whether you're in the SCA, just to blow the geekitude right off the scale.

That was me just above - don't know why it decided to resurrect my old and abnormally crappy tag.

Oh, and while I'm here - the chick in the picture is totally cute.

yoda: An adsense question would have been a great addition, and all Orblers would have gotten a boost in their internet geekiness level.

Dusk: yoda is right - the Leia costume is sexy and geeky all rolled into one!

Ash: These quizzes are always good for a laugh. I thought you'd have academic highest, as your posts are always very deep.

Ahmed: You're definitely more geeky than that! The quiz definitely needed some more techy questions.

Nathan: Yes, the sci-fi and internet questions were lacking, and it is a crime against geekiness not to have a comic section.

I knew I'd be high on the academic geekiness and music geekiness. I thought I might have scored higher on the movie geekiness. But fairly accurate I'd have to say for such a short little quiz.

Dusk - you own a Leia costume??? I'm in AWE of you. I bow down before you.

Comment by Nina

February 20th 2007 00:05
Kylie: I knew you'd score well one those two. I think movies definitely should have included at least something Star Wars related, whether you have attended in first session of a movie opening and whether you dressed up in costume accordingly!

I thought I'd be geekier...

Academic Geekiness: High
Movie Geekiness: High
Geekiness in Love: Low
General Geekiness: Low
Internet Geekiness: Low
Music Geekiness: Low
SciFi Geekiness: Low

I think we can all agree that the quiz could be SO much more in-depth. Anyone want to make one? We could all contribute questions from our own respective geek cultures.

KW...I have the costume because I went to a fancy dress 'party'
(ages ago), a 'favourite film/comic character' theme...
figured they'd be quite a few Wonder Women, CatWomen, etc...
so Princess Leia (and not Oola The green Twi'lek
who was Jabba's slave
) as Hutt prisoner was my next choice.

We're talking the full costume (or lack of it...)
albeit with a few modifications;
I asked for a light sabre thigh holster belt...and a light sabre.

I would have gone as Aayla Secura
(Twi'lek blue Jedi)
had Episodes 2 and 3 come out then.

Surely this qualifies me for Geekdom, right?

Most definitely, Dusk. And for the record, Leia is much cooler than Wonder Woman - whatever version of Leia garb you may have donned.

Um.. where can I get one of those outfits...?

I think I need to buy someone a belated Valentine's bonus gift...

;o)

Hello Yoda76...

...very hard for me to choose between Diana and Leia when it comes to 'cool'...both childhood icons.

(WW/Diana is completely misunderstood as being a goody 2 boots...let us not forget she is an Amazon Warrior borne from clay and gifted with powers (she can fly...she can breathe underwater...she can break a Titan in half....she's got gravity defying boobs) plus she gave up Godliness because she found the Olympus crew far too boring and indulgent...)

As for the outfit...well...for some reason it's not part of the 'Star Wars' merchandising...maybe 'hot slave costume' didn't look good on the packaging...

A friend, who is a theatrical costumier, made it for me, which is why I got the thigh holster modification BUT... look on eBay Yoda...I just did a search... Happy Belated Valentine's Day...!

And no I'm not selling mine...

Nothing more will I teach you today.
Damn. That's your line...

Have a great night Yoda76...you too Ninabelle...

Sadly, Dusk, I fear that my visions of Mrs M in a Leia costume shall never come to pass. If looks could kill...

As for WW, all you say is true, but sadly she wears what amounts to (more or less) the American flag.

A Jedi craves not these things...

...or 'homey don't play that', whichever works for you ;o)

Comment by DuskDevi

February 21st 2007 07:03
Noooo....WW wears the stars and stripes as a tribute to
Diana Trevor, Steve Trevors mother, who died on
Themyscira, helping the Amazons
defeat some evil ratbags coming out of
Dooms Doorway...

Unfortunately, Diana Trevor was American
and that's why she had the flag and Diana
(WW...who is named after Diana Trevor)
saw this flag as representing the land of Diana Trevor...
a land freedom and democracy.

Okay , so she was wrong but come on...
it's a tribute not truth.

....and these aren't the droids you're looking
for but "homey don't play that" works
just as well...

Um...Yoda76...I'm sensing something here....
you don't just have a 'crush' on Mrs M
do you??...Mrs M is your ...um...Yodess?

Comment by yoda76

Mrs M has been my Yodess (that's terrible, by the way!) for about 9 years now. Yep, I'm hubby in all her posts.

I'll pay your WW comment - but it still bugs me!

I'm almost low enough on the geek scale to be booted from Geekville, but that's okay. I've got plenty of other quarks to go on. *LOL*

Wendi: Don't worry, I won't boot you from Geekville. I'm sure we'll find something else for you to be geeky in

Bryn: Tsk tsk Bryn - that would explain your score for internet geekiness! Glad to see a high score for movie geekiness, though.

Are you using Internet Explorer? I'm using Firefox and it is displaying correctly, but I have had issues with IE before.

If you do think the results of this test are a bit off, head on over to the suggestions for a new geek quiz post and pitch some ideas to improve it.
