Verizon pushes email to the non-smart phone

Props to Verizon (I never thought I would say that) for making a device better via a software update.
Verizon Wireless Offers Push Email to Consumer Phones
Verizon has launched a service that allows phones besides the Blackberry and Windows mobile device to sync contacts, tasks, email and calendar.
There are a couple caveats however:
You have to have a MS Exchange server in you organization.
Its 10$ per month for the activesync and you have to have some kind of data plan on the phone. These start at 1.99 per MB.
Most everyone I know has some type of smartphone. I wonder if that would change if they could just read their email on a regular phone or enter all their events and contacts in outlook and it be sucked into their device instead of having to type contacts into you phone with a number pad.
I think those with smartphones would have a hard time scaling back to a regular cell phone. Once you add the data plan the game really changes and the devices really change the way you work and play.
Peace
