Wii vs PS3 vs XBOX 360..YOU Decide the Winner

Ok, I'm going to try little experiment here...

I'm opening up thegeekspeak to you guys. I want to know what your thoughts are on the three consols in the next-gen war (if that doesn't sound like a great title for a comic I don't know what does).


Which console are you going to buy? Which one would you buy? Will you buy two? Will you buy none? Why will you buy none....waitaminute...

Regardless, you get the idea. Post your thoughts below, and in a months time or so I shall collate all of the responses and decalre a winner.
(Of course if no-one replies, I may just forget I ever posted this as to not bruise my fragile male ego)

And I can't wait to buy Zelda again. WOOOO!

(although that new zombie game for the XBOX 360 does look very enticing...hmmmm)

I'm going for the Wii no question. I'm a little biased, however, because I have owned every Nintendo console since the NES.

This console launch from Nintendo is different than the others, because something new and innovative is coming out. I hope the Wii takes back a large chunk of the market share, maybe then those casual gamers with their XBoxes and Playstations will see some real gaming!

I'm going to have to agree with there. It's a whole new way to play games...except it is in all likelyhood how you originally played a system when you first picked up a control.

So far, looks like Wii is going to kick some plastic console arse...if there is such a thing...there isn't.

Okay. We're all Wii fans, huh? (I don't add "boy" because that is something I am definitely not). Yes, I will probably buy a Wii because of everything listed and the fact that it will have many games I liked. For example, Super Smash Bros Brawl (with Solid Snake!) and Zelda. And trauma center.

I will only get a PS3 if the price goes down and Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out.

When the price comes down for the ps3 I'll buy it since I've had an enjoyable relationship with the ps2 thus far.
The X-Box 360 seems like an updated version of the X-Box with roughly the same games.
Though, during this wait for the ps3 I may snap up the Wii depending on how financial I am and whether the ps3 is ridiculously priced or is plain insanity in a price tag.
That Link game does look awesome..

Well, the Wii will have 20 games available within the first month. Good games too, like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, NEW DUCK HUNT and it comes with WII SPORTS!!!!

I was a dedicated Sony fan, loved the PS, PS2 and the PSP...

The PS3 was going to be a no-brainer... Then along came the stupid blu-ray drive.

Shortages of the new drive caused massive delays. I ain't waiting till March 2007 for a PS2, I'll be in line for a Wii.

Plus the Wii is different, and different is nearly always good.

Plus the PS3 remote does not have vibration, the Wii-remote has vibration and a small SFX speaker! Bring it on!

I'll also save myself $600 - amazing!

obviously you should already know who im going to choose for but i will say it anway. 360. its the perfect middle ground, competitivly priced, and exelent games. i might hit the Wii though after the price drop. but i dont think the PS3 is ever going to happen.

Hey, the gamecube was a good little machine. It was a huge seller in Japan and tied with the xbox in the States.





Plus, it had Smash Bros and Rebel Assault.....




and kept me warm at night.

I'm voting for the Wii. It's a completely new way to play games, so even the ones we have played before, ie Zelda, will now be different.

The PS3 really does look like an over priced hype machine.

Hm, I'm undecided.

The Wii appears too kiddy, and as someone else said, you want to relax and play video games, not jump around the room.

I'm going to put my vote in for the xbox360.

Your text goes hereYour text goes hereFirst of all let me start by saying, though it was in third place sells wise, a lot of game magazines, are quick to tell you that the game cube was home to some of the greatest games of this generation, and secondly, no one said you had to jump around or act a fool to play Wii, I know when its 3am and I'm playing Red Steel, I'll just politely aim my remote, (which is no more action then lifting a TV remote to turn from the informercial) and lay those yakuza scum down, and as for the sword fighting, that can be performed easy too, besides Wii is the only true next gen...next gen doesn't mean graphics, it means new ways to play. Though they each have something worth talking about (although sony stole from Wii) I can only afford to get one this holiday season, and that'll be Wii, because I can gaurantee 7 or 8 years from now, all consoles will focus on motion sensors and new game play, and less on graphics.

and the gamecube did have some good titles like the wind waker, ssb melee, starfox and paper mario. those games rocked my socks off!

I will be getting the Xbox 360

the PS3 is way over priced i thought the PSP was pricey but i bought it anyway and i am not buying any thing with the PS name until there handhelds cost less than $150 and the consoles $300.

As far as Nintendo I grew out of the N64 6 years ago

These are the consoles I have had in the past so you will not think I am a fanboy. If anything I am defiantly not a fan of the original Xbox.

First time ever to draw my real interest on game console, it is WII. I got it pre-ordered.

wii should be rewarded with it innovation of gaming, and this is a first step for all future games. similiar to what I saw in gundam 20 years ago.

Well, I would get the Wii if it didn't suck as bad as the gamecube and wasn't made for little kids. You guys say the PS3 doesn't have any good games, but what games does the Wii have. What are they on now, Mario 27. So what if it has that stupid controller. You call it innovative, but all they basically did was take a controller and split it into two. Innovation would be in the xbox 360, and even more so in the ps3 because of its ablility to play games and movies in high definition. You guys says it's too pricey, which doesnt make since because you can get it $499, when a stand alone blu ray player costs $1000. But I'm wasting my time because I'm sure you people are all about 8 years old.

Firstly, you point out that the Wii isn't innovative as all it does is cut the control in two..I think you missed the point there son. You MOVE the remote to MOVE that character on the screen. That is something different, something that hasn't been done before, therefore innovative.

Try and have some facts before you pointlessly attack. Tell me, were you the type of kid who drew pictures of Sonic ripping Mario's head off and sent it into game magazines? If we are all 8, then that would make you........a cock.

i do not see why everyone likes the wii... it totally defeats the purpose of a VIDEO GAME. if you want to move around to play video games, go outside and play sport.
also, the wii is a step behind the next-gen consoles in graphics, and the controller is the stupidest thing i have ever scene. who wants to play a game with a long thin remote, similar to the one you turned the TV on with?
...and what kind of name is wii? Revolution sounded waaaaaaaaay better.

First of all...I'm nowhere near 8, I am a 20 nearing 21 year old college student and I actually have enough common sense to know that wii is actually a good thing. I mean Kevin perreira of G4 was the biggest nintedo bashing guy on the planet, but Wii made him clam up instantly. If he can get past his bias to realize the Wii's greatness, why can't you?!!! I admit I'm a bit of a nintendo fan boy, heck, I even own all the gameboys and a Famicom, but i'm not to biased to realize that, Xbox 360 is an awesome a game machine with such killer titles as Halo, Doa, Gears of War, and Ninja Gaiden 2, and I'll also admit that even though Sony stole from Nintendo, their machine is pretty impressive too, and I really wish I could get them all, but the point I am making is that having a bias will not change a thing, because it sure as hell won't undo that E3 line!!!!!!!!

i think i would like to get da ps3 but for me its way out of my price range. and do they really expect the majority of people out there to buy $80 dollar games when they could get the $50 ones for wii? i dont think so... and there are many games i look forward to that are coming out on the wii. Ex:Zelda, Super Smash Bros., and i cant help but lovin the paper mario games. the only bad thing i can really think of about the wii is that if im lazy i wont wanna be swingin around my arms to play.

Here's the Rundown of systems I've owned:
Atari 2600
Nintendo Entertainment System
SuperNES
Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2
Nintendo GameCube
Microsoft XBox 360

I bought the 360 because a) It's less expensive than the PS3 will be, b) Its performance will be very comparable to PS3, c) Online play is proven and unsurpassed.

As for the Wii? I may buy one. I'll wait and see how well its received upon its release and go from there.

PS3 is somewhere between a maybe and a probably not for me. The online play and the success or failure of BluRay will decide that one for me.

I have pre orderd a Wii. Its the next big thing!.. X-box 360 is also nice, but i prefer Wii.

Alright, I will be kind enough to interperate the data from all of the consels, and add them up in 10 categories to determine the "best" or most preferable.

1st category: portability

PS3- Not quite portable, and pretty ugly too. (-1)
Xbox 360- Cool looking, but sort of clunky ( 0)
Wii- small ,sleek, and the controller comes in 5 colours ( 1)

2nd category: controller

PS3- not quite innnovative, no rumble, its getting old...
(-1)
Xbox 360- apparently quite comfortable. It looks neat too. ( 1)
Wii- Quite innovative, has lots of features. Lots of colours. Apparently easy to use. ( 1)

3rd category: games

PS3- Lots of good games including MGS4 to name one. No launch titles confirmed ( 1)
Xbox 360- many of the titles that PS3 has, plus the great HALO3 ( 1)
Wii- comes with wii sports in the bundle plus 24 fairly priced launch titles, including the great TWILIGHT PRINCESS ( 1)

ADVANCED CATEGORIES

4: Cost

PS3: its only 600$ US (-1)
Xbox360: meh its around 400$ not bad not good ( 0)
Wii- astonishly cheap, only 250$ ( 1)

5: Performance

PS3- It has about x10 more horsepower than the wii ( 1)
Xbox360- it has about x6 more horsepower than the wii ( 1)
Wii- About x2-3 times stronger than gamecube (-1)

6: HD Compatable

PS3- blueray built in, but bluray doesnt seem to be dominating HD ( 0)
Xbox360- Yes ( 1)
Wii- No (-1)

7: Online Capabilities

PS3- Yes ( 1)
Xbox 360- Yes ( 1)
Wii- Yes ( 1)

8: Backwards Compatable

PS3- Yes ( 1)
Xbox 360- Yes ( 1)
Wii- Yes ( 1)

9: Extra features

PS3- Internet connection, bluray dvd drive, music... ( 1)
Xbox 360- HD dvd drive, internet (i think)... ( 1)
wii- some channels, internet connection ( 1)

10- Other notes

PS3- Gained many fanboys with other PS's ( 1)
-Was not impressive in E3 (-1)
-Delay in Europe (-1)
Xbox 360- Sales started 1 year before other consels ( 1)
-Lots of bugs (-1)
- was not bad but not good in E3 ( 0)
Wii- Innovative, new, cool looking. ( 1)
- Drew in amazing crowds at E3 ( 1)
- Many games are considered to be for children (-1)
- 3rd partys are joining nintendo ( 1)

So this sais the scores of all the consels

PS3= 1
Xbox 360= 7
Wii- 7

So Wii and Xbox 360 tie, and PS3 is in misruble 3rd. But buy whatever you want cause I dont care.

Although PS3, Wii and 360 are all next gen.. Microsoft have only two consoles released..
PlayStation will have their third,
I've lost count with Nintendo,
Which means Microsoft will be due with yet another console.. which will defiantly blow the PS3 and Wii away.. So I'll keep my 360, tough it out until Microsoft raise the bar a little higher

the disk tray could be used as a drink holder

And you know this how? .. How do you know there isn't something Microsoft is developing right now ? You criticize me for estimating how long it will take for Microsoft to bring out a new console, yet you do the same yourself without any reliable source of information.. Sorry to say, but you're the one who comes off 'stupid' here.
Microsoft already has a head start with the release of the next console, since Sony and Nintendo are still developing and releasing their next gen consoles now.

Even if it is five years before Microsoft develops a new console , the 360 will stay alive and competitive until the next console is released.

I heard that Nintendo is attracting alot of third party, since its cheaper now. But then again, I also heard that SONY PlayStation was gonna have a cool looking design, instead of a massive black exterior.

I am a graphics whore and couldn't sit and wait for the ps3 so I went out and bought a 360. I'm happy with it and I think there are some sweet games coming out this fall too. I'm mostly into fps's so the 360 is probably the best console for the majority of good shooters.

the wii will not have the best first person shooters, as stated by Anti-Anonymous.
the wiimote is a stupid way to play a shooting game, and uses a control as a gun is not new to the wii. the ps1, not that i like playstation, used a control gun, as has the ps2 and xbox. all the games that have used it have been fun at first, but the novelty of having to aim at the screen to shoot that place gets old very quickly.

person, I question your intelligence on this matter, the wiimote will act like a gun, however not necessarily an arcade style gun.

If you have seen some of the game demos you will notice it is being used like a mouse, to not only point and shoot but also to move the camer around since it is an fps game.

Yes, Wind Waker was quite a good game, with an exellent theme indeed. It was too easy though. As for twilight princess and N64 zeldas, if it ain't broke don't fix, I can't wait to play it.

I was just telling this guy to lay off with the link bashing, because he obviously has no Idea what he's talking about, I followed link since his debut on the NES and Famicom back in 1986 for the famicom disk system and '87 for the NES, and I don't have a problem with the new Link, so why do you? I am a hardcore Zelda fan, and I think I know what other Zelda fans like, and the new Twilight Princess is what we've been waiting for since Ocarina of Time. when they gave the new zelda a new look the took away the original graphics that made the game great. i thought zelda on n64 was the best single player game on any console, up until the xbox was released. (ps2 never had any good games) (neither does ps3)

the graphics are not the only downfall...

when they gave link the ability to turn into a wolf, i decided that the game was stupid and it was just following the kid crap that is going to be the wii.
